The course enables the student to engage with the main productions of Italian Renaissance sculpture in order to delve into their techniques by experiencing them directly. The Renaissance was the artistic and technical watershed that took ceramic art to heights of absolute greatness, often replacing costly marble works with precious ceramic modeling, first in terracotta (Donatello, Niccolò Dell'Arca, etc.) and later in majolica (Luca Della Robbia and successors).
