The history of Montelupo Fiorentino Pottery School

Montelupo Fiorentino Pottery School – member of “Empolese-Valdelsa Development Agency” – is a vocational training centre characterized by high level teaching methods and practical approach.

Montelupo Fiorentino Pottery School boasts a 25 years experience in the pottery world and can offer a high level training, thanks to qualified school management and teaching staff: cooperation with University Depts and manufacturing units ensure the transmission of all the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for keeping alive an art otherwise dying out.

The School differs from the “classical” art institute or Academy, aiming to more technical and practical results. The main users of the courses are in fact students without a specific experience in this world.

The teaching method, consisting in a profitable match of theory and practice, has been gradually tuned by the years, such as the bibliographic material on the subject which is internally created and printed. Courses mainly aim to make students completely able to manage this wonderful art in all its forms and autonomously.

The school with about 2000 square meters, is divided in a very equipped laboratory, a drawing room, a didatical multi-media room and a show room. In the laboratory there’s the place for 15 potter’s wheels and 20 painters.
